You are invited to join me in my journey in renovating my beautiful Victorian terrace. I fell in love with this house the minute I stepped inside with high ceilings, cast iron fireplaces and an impressive staircase - there will be a lot of work ahead which is why I've decided to make a blog to record the transformation of my dream house.

The Hallway
New front door has arrived. Gothic green glass and fabulous antique door knob from the Jim Lawrence co. Well worth the wait!!!! Arrived primed just need to get it painted before winter sets in. Need to decide on colour now - either black or dark green.
The Lounge
The lounge has been re-plastered. Finally the fireplaces have arrived and fitted last week-starting to take shape.

The Kitchen
We have started on the kitchen which is the biggest transformation so far. Painted in 'French Grey' it appears green in some lights and sits well against the off white units and oak worktops. Belfast sink in place and the window bottom has been taken out so the worktop runs through into the window bottom. Blind has arrived. It's a pale oatmeal in colour with grey victorian rose pattern - easiest way to describe it as looking like a pencil drawing. Cream range on order but no decision on floor-can't decide on tiles or wood. There are 3 drop lights which will hang down the centre of the kitchen over the island. The lights have arrived and hopefully will be put up tomorrow. Putty coloured dome fisherman type lights which can be adjusted in height by a pulley - came across them on the John Lewis website.
Attic
During the last couple of months progress has been slow. We started off at a great speed but it seems to have slowed to a trickle. With holidays and trying to get workmen in at a weekend it's been frustrating as one job holds up another. But here goes - this is where we are today;
Loft conversion: fully skimmed and bathroom tiled. It has suddenly transformed from a dusty attic to chill out bedroom! With new skylights and bathroom nearly finished its looking good. The walls are painted in Farrow & Ball (my new passion) 'cornforth white' and the wood work in pure white. It's well worth the spend as the finish is lovely - a really subtle powder grey but with a warm feel. Still debating on painted floorboards or carpet? Just got to finish off the bathroom and then it's down to the nice part of choosing the lighting and bedding.
